What UGC production is, and who it is for
User-generated content, as the industry now uses the term, rarely means content your customers made on their own. It means video that looks and sounds like it came from a real person rather than a brand: a face talking to camera, a routine, an unboxing, a first impression. It works because it feels like a recommendation rather than an advertisement.
The difficulty for a premium brand is that most UGC is made cheaply and quickly, and it shows. Poor light, awkward product handling and scripts that sound like scripts undo the trust the format depends on. We produce creator content for brands that want the format's intimacy with the brand's standards intact. For a balanced view of when to use each, see our guide to UGC versus studio content.
How we approach it
Casting the right voices
The person matters more than anything else in creator content. We cast people who would genuinely use the product, whose way of speaking suits your brand, and who can be natural on camera. Sometimes that means established creators; sometimes it means people with no following at all who simply talk well.
Briefs, not scripts
We write briefs that give each creator the key points, the words to avoid, the claims they may and may not make, and the shots we need. Then we let them say it their way. Lines that sound memorised are the fastest way to lose the viewer.
Light direction
We either direct creators on a shared shoot day, with a small crew and simple, flattering light in real homes, or send detailed shot guidance for remote filming and review everything before editing. Either way, the product is handled properly and shown clearly.
Creator, studio or both
| Criterion | Remote creators | Directed creator day | Studio production |
|---|---|---|---|
| Look | Authentic, variable | Authentic, consistent | Polished, fully controlled |
| Control over product handling | Low to moderate | High | Total |
| Variety of faces | Wide | Several per day | Usually one or two |
| Best for | Volume and range | Premium brands testing creator formats | Brand and hero pieces |
Most premium brands use a directed creator day, sometimes alongside remote creators for range.
What is included
- Creator sourcing and casting against a profile we agree with you.
- Briefs with key points, approved claims, words to avoid and required shots.
- Product shipping to creators, or a directed shoot day with a small crew.
- Review of raw footage for product handling, claims and brand fit before editing.
- Editing into finished pieces with captions, hooks and variations for testing.
- Contracts, releases and usage rights for organic and paid use in your markets.
Creator content often runs in paid social alongside studio work, so we frequently produce it as part of an ad creative programme.
Protecting the brand
Claims
- Only approved claims are stated
- No before-and-after promises unless cleared
- Disclosure of paid partnership where required
Product
- Correct product, shade or variant
- Packaging clean and handled well
- Use shown correctly
Rights
- Signed release from every creator
- Usage terms cover the platforms and markets
- Music licensed for commercial use
Regulated categories such as skincare, supplements and wellness need particular care with claims. We build the approved wording into each brief rather than fixing it in the edit. Our guide to usage rights and releases explains the paperwork in plain language.
How the footage becomes finished content
Raw creator footage is rarely ready to publish. We select the most natural takes, tighten pauses without making the speaker sound clipped, and add captions in your typeface so the piece reads with the sound off. Product close-ups shot by our crew can be cut in where a creator's phone could not show the detail, which keeps the informal voice while showing the product properly.
The strongest pieces are then cut into variations: a different first line, a shorter version, a new ending. That gives your paid team several distinct ads from a single creator without asking them to film again.
What drives the budget
The number of creators and pieces, whether creators are established names or new faces, the usage rights you need (paid use in several countries costs more than organic use in one), whether we direct a shoot day or manage remote filming, and the depth of editing and variation. We scope it per project or as a monthly programme.
How to brief us
Tell us which products to feature, who buys them, what they say about them in reviews and messages, and where the content will run. Share creator content you like from any brand, and anything you have tried before that did not feel right. Brands in beauty and wellness use this service most, but it works anywhere a trusted voice sells better than a brand voice.
